Epson launches new range of productsThree single function, three multi-function products launched CHENNAI (Thursday, Sep 14, 2006): In a bid to entice an increasing number of its customers to use its consumables, Epson, a digital imaging solution provider, has come out with a range of `Inkjet all in ones' and printers with a focus on providing cost-effective and quality ink cartridges. Epson has launched six products in all — three single-function products and similar number of multi-function products. The single-function products (printers) are: C 58, C 79 and C 87 Plus. The multi-function products (printer, scanner and photocopier) are: CX 2800, CX 5900 and CX 3900. These new range of products come with either water and fade-resistant DURABrite Ultra inks (at Rs. 460 per cartridge) or cutting edge affordable inks (Rs. 250 per cartridge). C 58 is priced at Rs. 2,999, C 79 at Rs. 3,999, CX 2800 at Rs. 4,999, CX 3900 at Rs. 5,999 and CX 5900 at Rs. 7,999. Addressing a press conference here on Wednesday, S. M. Ramprasad, Manager (Consumer Products), said the `affordable cartridges' that the company was launching would help Epson drive its consumable sales up and address the problems posed by the non-genuine cartridge market in India. He said the `genuine ratio' for Epson in India was just about 40 per cent. "Genuine Ratio" is the percentage of its original customers returning to buy Epson consumables. Mr. Ramprasad was confident that the launch of new products with `affordable ink cartridge' would help the `genuine ratio' to go up to 80-90 per cent. The differential in prices vis-à-vis compatible ink cartridges could still place Epson at a disadvantage. Epson, he said, would launch a nation-wide targeted campaign to drive home the superiority of its new range of products and their cost-effectiveness.
